ERW steel pipe is a type of longitudinally welded steel pipe formed by electric resistance welding or electric induction welding without the addition of filler metal. ERW steel pipes have a longitudinal weld running the length ofthe pipe that is formed by resistance heating or high frequency induction heating. These pipes were traditionally used in low pressure applications, but manufacturing improvements have made modern ERW suitable for medium to high pressure gas transportation.
