In order to improve the seamless steel pipes for oil transportation, usually the surface should be treated for corrosion resistance. Common treatments include: cleaning, descaling, pickling, shot blasting four methods.

1. Cleaning. The grease, dust, lubricants, organic matter on the surface of seamless steel pipes usually can be cleaned by solvent or emulsion. But for rust, scale, welding slag can not be removed, that will need further process.

2. Remove rust by tools. Use a wire brush to polish the oxidation, rust, welding slag on the surface of seamless steel pipes. Tools can be divided into manual and power tools. Manual tools can reach class 2 level, power tools can reach class 3 level. For stubborn scale, it is possible can not be removed by tools, that will need further process.

3. Pickling. Common pickling include chemical and electrolytic methods. However, the corrosion resistance for seamless steel pipe should be chemical pickling. Chemical pickling steel surface can reach a certain cleanliness, roughness.

4. Shot blasting. By high power motor and high speed blade, seamless steel pipes can be shot blasting by grit, steel shot, wire segments, minerals and other abrasive under the centrifugal force. On one hand, that will completely remove rust, oxides and dirt. On the other hand, seamless steel pipes can reach uniform roughness under the impact and friction of abrasive.
