For imported steel products, the government of South Africa, in accordance with the requirements of the WTO (World Trade Organization) Rules, imposed 10% import tariffs in December 2015 and February 2016 respectively, and studied additional protective measures for its hot rolled coil, and also accepted the AMSA company's additional application of five tariff protection measures, which led to the South African steel market monopolize the steel pricing power by a small number of iron and steel enterprises. However, despite the relatively industrial system is well established , but for now, the overall strength of South African iron and steel enterprises is not high.
